This was my 3rd trip to Mt Wilson this year and I’ll never get tired of this trail. What can I say, I really like the Chantry Flats trailhead to Mt. Wilson! That and I have friends that want to do SoCal 6POPs and schedules are tough. Okay, the Pie in the Sky is the real reason. ;)~ If you haven’t had the apple pie at cosmic café, do have the pie. It just tastes so good after 7 miles of hiking.

The trail has really come alive for this 3rd go-around. Tons more bugs, herds of lizards, 3 deer and 1 garter snake kept the hike interesting. Oh, and the poison oak, stay aware guys, that annoying plant is quickly encroaching on the trail. I was able to avoid it, but I may be one of the lucky few that don’t have an allergic reaction. I’ve never gotten it. Plenty of bug bites though and hay fever, but thankfully no poison oak.

So, about that deer. Maybe this one guy just likes people or he’s just used to all us hikers tromping through his forest. We came around the corner and the dude is just standing in the trail looking at us. He was still like 30 feet off, but he just cocked his head to the side and curiously watched us as we snapped some photos and video. I know I keep calling him he, for all I know it was a she, but I wasn’t able to get a good look. 😐 Don’t hate for assuming Its preferred pronoun. Sorry, white male here…I guess my privilege is showing!
What a great day!

    1. Thanks! It was crazy that it was so relaxed.

Bummer, fingers crossed that one day it will be when you go. I sampled some of the chilly cheese fritos last time, those are pretty good too. Pie is best though.
