I took the fire road so that I could bring my pups, although it was just pavement all the way up the views were beautiful. It really is mostly ascent on the way and then down the way back.  It was a Beautiful day, started early to beat the heat and crowds. It was super windy at the top and chilly wore jacket and long sleeve fir entire hike.
