Mount Woodson
About this peak
Mount Woodson is a 2,881-foot summit above Poway, famous for the Potato Chip Rock flake near the top. The recommended Six-Pack route is the out-and-back Mount Woodson Trail, 7.4 miles with about 2,109 feet of gain, starting at Lake Poway Recreation Area. The trail is a steep, rocky fire road with little shade and is very crowded at Potato Chip Rock, so start early.

Hazards
The route is a steep fire road and rocky switchbacks with little shade, so it is hot in warm weather; carry plenty of water. Potato Chip Rock is very crowded, with long photo lines on weekends, so start early. The flake is described as solid, but take care stepping out onto it because there is a drop below.
