Big City Mountaineers & the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge
The mission of Big City Mountaineers is simple:
“Big City Mountaineers instills critical life skills in under-resourced youth through transformative wilderness mentoring experiences.”
I know that for many of us, our experience in the wilderness has given us confidence that carries over into other areas of our lives. And as our “next generation” of adventurers developed, we are also helping ensure support for protecting our wild places for future generations. This is why the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge has chosen Big City Mountaineers as one of the key non-profits we partner with. To date, we've raised over $30,000 for BCM…and over $10,600 so far through our 2018 challenges.
Here's a look BCM's 2018 numbers:Â
These numbers are awesome, but what really inspires me are the stories from the young people who have been on a wilderness mentoring trip. Here are a few from the BCM Instagram feed:
The words from these young people are a great reminder of what an impact the wilderness can have.
At the SoCal Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge Finishers Party on October 14, BCM board member Ben Gipson joined nearly 400 challengers to share the vision of BCM.
