Gaviota Peak was a beast!
Also on this hike
Beautiful day with my friend Kim and the SB County Hikers on one of their 5 peak challenge hikes. After an uphill fire road to a single track trail we came to the challenging steep climb over big boulders up a dry creek. On the way up we got a great view of the Gaviota coastline and the Channel Islands, as we continued along the Trespass and Tunnel View trails.
Very little shade, especially once you hit the steep climb. Bring plenty of water!
Once we reached the summit, we were thankful the group took the fire road route back down (the fire road up is easier and thus more frequented, but not nearly as scenic.)
I would rate this hike as strenuous.
