For the second time this week, I found myself going uphill in the hottest part of the day in the hottest month of the year. Thankfully, there was more of a breeze today. At the summit it was so breezy at one point that it even blew my hat off. There were a few clusters of happy wildflowers to greet me at the summit in addition to beautiful views in all directions, but no other people were up there. I did use my spikes to cross one large snowfield, although several others crossed without traction.

What time of day did you start? I’m hiking this twice this week, but planning to start as close to sunrise as possible.
Oh I started mid-morning— way too late. I’d love to go back for a sunrise or sunset sometime.
