Sutton Mountain never let’s ya down.
Also on this hike
Sutton Mountain is a bit of a drive for us, but it’s always worth it. The weather was perfect—not too hot or cold. The hike is mostly exposed, so this was ideal. The trail was dry as well. If it’s wet, you’ll be hiking with an extra five pounds of clay on your feet, so try to go when there hasn’t been any rain for a few weeks. Highlights included stunning views, a few spring flowers, and lots of birds. We also saw coyote and bear scat. I was surprised to see some bear scat. My wildlife friend confirmed it. Oh, and there was a section near the top with a bunch of low-growing cacti. This was the first time I’ve seen them. I always hope to spot some deer or elk on Sutton, but it hasn’t happened yet. After the hike, we took a short drive to enjoy the beauty of the Painted Hills.
Fantastic! No mud? If that’s the case, I need to head out there now!
Ha! We were happy to find it dry! Enjoy your Sunday evening; Jeff.
