Washout
Also on this hike
It was depressing take away. Make what you will of the weather, but it still was a manageable trail to walk despite the rain. I thought I reached a mile. It was sadly derailed when I saw a Trail Closed sign and another with Root Creek trail closed as well. I could only assume it was due to seeing a tree branch early on the trail. That was bound to be the case caused by the rain. So I headed back to the rental car very disappointed. I loved the tawny colored leaves on the ground. There were some beautiful ferns and trees. I just wish the hike didn’t have to come to an abrupt end.
Oh no! Thanks for sharing the update. We will add a note on the website.
This is a good reminder to check for trail status before you go. We do our best to stay on top of closures, but the best source is usually the governing agency (Forest Service, etc.).
Thanks, Jeff. I began to Google weather forecasts at each trail. I certainly could’ve looked into Forest Service. The command post was completely vacant getting to Castle Crags. This would become a running theme at other trails.
