Ambassador Spotlight: Kristin Seiler

In honor of Women's History Month, we are shining our spotlight on a couple of the women ambassadors. Our Second post features Kristin Seiler, who has been a Six-Pack of Peaks challenger since the beginning.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do when you’re not hiking?

Right now I work in higher education, so I spend most of my time on Zoom. But when not Zooming or hiking, I also enjoy climbing and have recently and inexplicably taken up cross-stitching.

What has the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge meant to you?

I have been a part of the challenge since it started. If there's anything the pandemic has taught us, life is unpredictable, so having a routine every year sets a solid foundation when everything else feels like it's set on sand.

What is your favorite hike in the Six-Pack of Peaks and why?

San Jacinto is my favorite peak. Unparalleled views! Also there's a tram.

Share one of your most memorable adventures. What makes it so special?

Hiking in Scotland on the Isle of Skye is one of my most memorable experiences. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Arthur's Seat in Edinburg was also memorable but that's more due to the fact that it was covered in ice and I spent most of the time climbing on all fours.

What’s one piece of gear that you never hike without?

I'd say shoes. It'd be hard to do it without them. Although I HAVE seen people try.

Share a quote, song, or another inspirational item that helps get you through the toughest hikes/life moments.

“Mt. Wilson will not be on this year's Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge.” – Jeff Hester

(this really brings a tear of joy to my eye).

What upcoming adventures are you looking forward to in the year ahead?

Honestly, any time I leave my house it's an adventure, but there is a trip to Alaska planned for a milestone birthday.

Share a fun fact about you that most people wouldn’t know.

I've visited more foreign countries than states.
