Thank you for the heads up, Marty. I was actually looking for weather conditions for both Mt Baldy and Mt Wilson to see which has less snow… If there’s too much snow then I may want to wait it out.
Wilson will typically have less snow than Baldy, as Baldy is around twice as high. Was not meaning to scare anyone off with weather update. If you go, I would recommend micro spikes.

Just got my northbound John Muir trail permit for august 2018 ( 220 miles with lots of peaks and passes over 10k feet), so I’m trying to do multi day backpacking trips that also summit the So Cal 6 peaks as training for that..basically a six pack of peak backpacking challenge for myself! last year I did my own unofficial challenge, but only got 2 of 6. I did a 16 mile loop for Mt Wilson, and a 27 mile loop to San Gorgonio!I hope to get all 6 this year, and many more,as well as Mt Whitney and half-dome when I am on the JMT. I’ll probably do a few multi day backpacking loops in Sequoia National Park, and maybe the trans catalina trail as well as training.

I’m going to finish the NorCal six pack, and in July I’m hiking the JMT SOBO and Solo! 🙂 Until then, just trying to hike as much as possible and get some backpacking trips in to train! 😀

As of today, I have the following schedulled:

• San Bernardino Peak overnight trip – Early June
• High Sierra Trail – Late July
• Hiking almost every mile of Chino Hills State Park – I live 5-10 minutes from this state park. I’ve made it a goal to try and hike every possible trail in the park.
• Finishing the So Cal Six Pack of Peaks this year – I didn’t make it last year. I’m going to do it this year.

My goal in the beginning of the year was to get out and hike more often, no excuses. I had a conversation with a friend that I MAY attempt 1 or 2 peaks, but wasn’t crazy enough to do the six… here I am 4/8 done! With an estimate of completing all by end of June 🙂

Goals now are:
Complete six/eight pack of peaks by June/early July.
Keet Seel backpacking trip in June
Possible Mt. Whitney in September
Cactus to Clouds in the fall

and of course many hikes/camping trips in between.
