What an incredibly beautiful day! We were going to hike this trail on February 1st but looking at the weather forecast, we decided to go a day earlier. I'm so glad we did, as we were rewarded with a blue bird day. The trail was difficult to find but thankfully we were still able to get to the top. Hiking it by snowshoe was challenging at times. Just before we hiked the last mile or so, we decided to leave our snowshoes against a tree in the open clearing and use our micro spikes. This turned out to be a great decision since it was steep and very icy. The reward at the top was breathtaking!
Were you able to follow the “trail” or was it more of a “choose your own adventure” hike?
We fully intended to follow the trail. I downloaded the map on All Trails but we could not find any markings of the trail once we left the sign at the trailhead. We ended up following other snowshoe tracks. My map showed that we took the most direct route to the top. Ha. Gorgeous views at the top yesterday.
I’ve hiked this many times, but I’m looking forward to doing it in the snow.
It’s very fun by snowshoe! I’ll definitely hike that trail again this summer.
