But first, lets tackle the highest one!

Peak SummitedMount Washington

For my first summit on the challenge, I decided to hike Mt. Washington. This is the highest peak in New England and it's known for its dangerous weather. The highest wind speed recorded by men was recorded on the top of Mt. Washington and it was 231 mph. On January 6 this year Mt. Washington was second coldest place on earth with -36 degrees Fahrenheit, so all this tells how dangerous and unpredictable this mountain can be. But, on the other hand, this hike offers great views and challenging trails.

    Edit:
I accidentally pressed log my hike, without finishing description.

… Ammonoosuc Ravine trail is moderate for the first mile and a half and then begins to be really steep. You can enjoy great views along this trail, but due bad weather I was unable to enjoy views but there are a few nice waterfalls along this trail. After I reached AMC’s hut called Lakes in the clouds I took Crawford path to the summit of Mount Washington. It was really windy at the summit so after a short break, I took Great Gulf trail and Jewel trail to the base of the mountain. This hike offers the opportunity to bag few other peaks, but I decided to skip that because of bad weather. This was 13 miles long hike and took me about five and half hours to finish it.

It was a very challenging hike, but I enjoyed it.

Looks really beautiful, even with the clouds. How strong do you think the winds were at the summit?

Official report said that wind speed was 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. It is really beutiful, too bad that I didn’t posted four different pictures, but this was my first log, and I messed it a bit 🙂 .
