Our first hike is in the bag. It was about an hour up and 40 minutes down. The trail was crowded but not quite crowded enough to make it a hazard or irritating. It is a tough hike, but easy enough to complete without training first. It was enough to shock me into the reality that I'll have to put in some work training before attempting the more difficult hikes.
