We started early once we got to the trailhead and heard bats when we approached closer to the caves. When we got to the saddle, we were surprised it started to look like we would be hiking down again to go up. The trail started to have railing to assist your descent, and more on the way up. The winds on the backside of the mountain were approaching 30 mph and I almost lost my hat a few times, while my girlfriend couldn’t see out of one of her contacts in her left eye. When we made it to the peak, we took a celebratory New Years picture, and quickly made our way down due to the wind. This was a fun hike, as it reminded me of Angels Landing…while would much prefer to hike it without the wind.
