It was Sunday so I thought I would still find parking at 6:30am but showed up to a full parking lot lol, I knew I had to be there by 5:30am but decided to get a little more rest and crossed my fingers that I would hopefully find one spot or not have to park to far. The morning weather was great, cool, brisk and just right to enjoy my coffee and take in the mountain air and views. I set off from the Ice House Canyon trailhead starting point and make my way to the saddle, about thirty minutes into the hike weather started to warmed up. After all the cold weather it was nice to feel the warm weather in the mountains, I haven't been hiking much this year and my mind set was starting to show it so the clear skies, warm sun and fresh air just made a perfect combination to start my six pack of peaks and my hiking season this year. So from the saddle I made my way to kelly's camp where I took a break under the pines in the shade they provided knowing I still had a climb to go. I told myself to take it slow, no clock to beat or Sun to out run. I justed need to take in what the mountain had to provided for the day. After that I set off to Ontario Peak. It turned out to be a busy day for the mountain, by the time I left the peak there were at least 20 people at the top. I made sure to make my way down slowly in order to take in the views and peace it provides. A hike to high elevation always helps me heal in some sort of way, either it be me looking for it or finding out what I really needed healing from, spiritually or mentally. I started this to get me back out hiking and it would give me some destinations. As I look ahead to plan the rest of the hikes I can already tell this is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. I can't wait for the next adventure already.
