I have been working to get in shape since August of 2019. This was a challenging hike for me personally. It was the distance that got to me, as it had been a couple of months since I pushed for miles like that. Trail conditions were great even after the rains that Tucson had weeks prior, you could see some erosion in some areas, but the trail was not affected. We took a number of breaks, the skies were clear and it started cool but got above 70 degrees that day. I was sorer than I have been before but again, it's been a couple of months since I pushed that many miles. I highly recommend bringing sun protection, 3-7 liters of water depending on your size and the weather, the hotter it gets the more water I would recommend to bring. This is due to the high level of exposure to the sun. We had 3 liters each and ran out the last half mile back to the trailhead. Overall, I am very proud of my wife and I for accomplishing this as first hike for the 2020 Winter Six Pack of Peaks challenge, my wife and I never go for the easiest thing first.
