Hey all, wanted to provide an update. I'm going to avoid Cuyamaca on this trip because of concerns not only about the snow but also about the condition of the road getting to the trailhead. I upped my rental car to an SUV but still…

Good news is, I hadn't even noticed there's an alternate peak in the San Diego Six-Pack, so I'll do Woodson instead, keep my plan to do Corte Madera the next day, and keep the whole trip under 5000′.

Thanks everyone! I'm more than fine with snow hiking, being from the Northeast and all. Right now the variable is whether my camping reservation (it's a glamping setup near El Cajon) is going to fall through because of snow or cold weather. In which case I guess I'll just go ski at Big Bear instead, lol.

I would join except I'll be doing a sunset hike of Piestewa for AZ Winter!

Sawmill is in Los Padres National Forest, so I assume it's inaccessible right now due to the national forest closures in Southern California. That said — when the forests reopen, I highly recommend it. The terrain was really unique for SoCal (pine forests as opposed to more desert-like terrain), as was the Pinos-Sawmill hike itself, given that it involved a descent between the mountains before the final summit.

Thanks Jeff! Happy to help with anything New England or Catskills related (ooh can there be a New York Six Pack???), and if you are curious about the Adirondacks I can ask a friend who knows that region really well.
The big thing to know is that our weather forecasts are NEVER accurate. Always pack for rain…
