About this peak

Maiden Peak is the highest point between Diamond Peak and Mount Bachelor, an old shield volcano topped with a steeper cinder cone on the Cascade Crest. The recommended route is the Hiking Maiden Peak guide, about 12 miles round trip with roughly 3,000 feet of gain. A second option via the Maiden Lake trailhead is about 10 miles with the same gain. Both are challenging, and Forest Service roads here are not maintained for snow and ice.

Hazards

A long, steep day of 10 to 12 miles with about 3,000 feet of gain, so start early and carry plenty of water, because no potable water is available at the trailhead. Forest Service roads to the trailhead are not maintained for snow and ice, so access depends on the weather. The Middle Fork Ranger Station can give current conditions. Weed-free feed is required for stock.
