About this challenge
The Southern California Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge is the original. It has twelve peaks and asks you to log any six. They range from Sitton Peak at 3,273 ft to San Gorgonio at 11,503 ft, the tallest mountain in SoCal, so you can start low and work your way up or go straight for the big ones. Log the six “classic” peaks (Mount Wilson, Cucamonga Peak, Mount Baldy, San Bernardino Peak, San Jacinto and San Gorgonio) to earn a special badge.
The challenge runs year-round, so set your own pace: six days, six weeks or six months. Expect snow on the high peaks in winter and heat on the low ones in summer. San Gorgonio requires a permit, and fire closures can affect the San Gabriel peaks, so check conditions before you go.
How it works
One membership covers every challenge.
Log any 6 of the 12 peaks, using the date you hiked.
A peak badge for each summit and a finisher badge at 6.
Rules and guidelines
Same for every challenge
- Log the day you hiked. Use the date of your summit, and log each peak once per challenge.
- Leave No Trace. Pack out everything, stay on trail and respect wildlife and other hikers.
- Know your limits. Check conditions, permits and closures before you go, and turn around if it is unsafe.
- Hike at your own risk. The community shares information, and you are responsible for your own safety.
