Hi Lorie,

Most peaks in my experience that actually have a sign are not placed by the Forest Service, although those do exist (Baldy). It appears that most signs are placed on the summit by some nice hiker. Sometimes the signs go missing (Mt Wilson, San Jacinto). Some peaks even have multiple signs (Cucamonga, San Gorgonio). I've never seen signs for purchase here on Social Hiker, if that's what you meant by, “Are signs available?” Time to get out the craft supplies and make some personal summit flags for each one of your next summit attempt.

Hey Blaine, I believe I saw the Finishers shirt the last two years. If you go to the shop, Apparel, page 2, you'll see the listing for the 2020 SoCal and 2021 AZ Winter Finishers shirts. I can't say I'd know, but it's certainly possible they'd be made again. Think its too early to say, 10 days into the new year and all. As far as the patch is concerned, I saw something from Jeff posting somewhere not too long ago, saying the patch will be handed out at some point. Can't remember the day or time or if they are mailed, but I did see a photo on the FB or IG page.

Or you could go this route too. It was pretty fun and you get to complete a mini Challenge inside a big Challenge. It's the same route that Jeff is suggesting, but you just go a little farther and hit Grouse peak. Haha…its not much of a peak, but who am I to argue with the Mountain Communities Chamber of Commerce. They'll sell you a patch for $5 when you complete…anything to make a buck!
I've tried growing a full beard, but I end up just looking more homeless than hipster.

Of course, now I look like Colonel Sanders…
That's funny! And I'm barely pulling it off myself.

And the Colonel was THE trusted name in chicken for many many years. Sadly no longer the case (in my opinion) but the goatee is still a great look and works well for bringing out the inner mountain man.

Haha….thanks, Jeff! The beard definitely helped with getting me more in tune with my inner mountain man.
