About this peak

Bishop Peak is the tallest of the Nine Sisters, the chain of volcanic morros in San Luis Obispo, and its rocky summit gives sweeping views over the city and surrounding valleys. The Six-Pack route follows the Bishop Peak Trail from Patricia Drive as a 3.4-mile out-and-back with about 1,131 feet of gain. The upper trail is rocky and fully exposed to the sun, so bring water and start early on warm days.

Hazards

The upper trail is rocky and sun-exposed, and the boulders near the summit involve some hands-on climbing. Poison oak lines parts of the trail, so stay on the path. There is little shade, so heat can be an issue on warm days. Mountain bikes are not allowed on the trail.
