My wife and I are researching a trip from Oregon to New England next summer and this will come in handy.

Another resource I like is mountain-forecast.com
Here's a link for Mount San Jacinto at 8,203′: https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Mount-San-Jacinto-Peak/forecasts/3293
You can pick the summit elevation to see the difference.
Are you taking the tram up, or another route?

Some people have connected with hiking partners here in the forums, but your topic is about groups, so I'll stick to that.
One good general resource is Meetup.com. There are a number of hiking groups in San Diego. In some cases they may even have events planned up one or more of the six peaks in the challenge, but in all cases, it's a great way to meetup with other hikers from SD who may be interested in joining you.
Another good resource is Facebook. There are a couple of groups I'll recommend:
- SoCal Hikers – covers all of SoCal
- San Diego Hiking Society – focuses on San Diego area
Both groups have an active member base and regularly have folks connecting to hike together.

A lot of people have hiked Sawmill Mountain. https://socialhiker.net/six-pack-peaks-challenge/southern-california/2021-hike-logs/sawmill-mountain/
It's a lot easier than the original six peaks, but many people make it an extra challenge by completing the 3-2-1 Challenge, hiking Grouse, Sawmill and Mt Pinos in one day. That's three peaks, in two counties (including the highpoints of both) all in one day.

Congratulations Michael! You are #86 on the Finishers List!
We send out certificates and patches to all finishers shortly after the end of the challenge (December 31 for SoCal). We looking at possibly starting this earlier to avoid making January crazy busy, and will keep you posted.
We will also hold Finisher Wrap-up in January (online) with a big gear giveaway. We'll send out reminders as the date gets closer.
Meanwhile, keep coming back, sharing your adventures, cheering on the other challengers, and entering our monthly gear giveaways.

Just a quick update, I moved my hike date to Monday, July 26th. If you're on the mountain that morning, say “hi!”

Both the Kaibab and Coconino national forests are reopened to the public as of Tuesday after being closed due to extreme wildfire danger, national forest officials said.
State officials said that the Tonto National Forest will end Stage 3 fire closures on Wednesday morning, but Stage 2 restrictions are still in place.
The fire danger in both forests has reduced due to recent rainfall and cooler temperatures, officials said. Fire danger is still present and the forests are reopening with fire restrictions in place.

Hey Jason! Thanks for asking… it was NOT working, but now it is, and congratulations — you're a finisher!

Hey Curtis, I've sent you a DM for details.

Yes, it's closed until at least September 17th as it's in National Forest.

Have a blast on the Lost Coast Trail! We hiked it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Here's our guide: https://socalhiker.net/the-lost-coast-trail-an-overview/

I look forward to your trip report on Elkhorn Crest. The photos I’ve seen remind me of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Out of curiosity… what does a Nordic compass look like?
