Thanks Jeff. Fingers crossed!!

2022 Goals: Hmmm. San Diego, SoCal, NorCal, Nevada, AZ Six Packs of Peaks, 3 California 14ers, and complete the Sierra Club San Diego 100 Peaks Challenge. Maybe an “unofficial” Fool's Traverse. ?

I'd be interested. I've done all of the peaks multiple times over the last few years. I began my “Original” Peaks Challenge yesterday with Cucamonga, after competing the “Alternate” Peaks for 2021.
I hike with a lot of different hikers and a few group at times, or just solo. I would be considered fast by some peoples standards. However, when hiking with others its about the group and having a great time, not the speed.
I no expert, but I'm handy with navigation and trail knowledge. I'm also certified as a NOLS Wilderness Responder. I'm on Facebook and Instagram, so if you'd like to set up a hike send me a message. I hike just about every weekend and I plan well in advance. 🙂

Oh, I used Google Maps too, and it showed it was closed, even when the road was open.

@Vickie there are intermittent closures on the 2 for repairs, weather, slides, etc. Before I went up I called Caltrans and the Visitors Center to verify if the roads were open or closed.

A few of my quests this year will be the Backbone Trail x 2, Cactus to Clouds x 2, PCT from Snow Creek to San Jacinto Peak, of course the 6 pack of peaks (actually planning on all 8) x 2, Fool's Traverse, and the 9 peak Challenge.

My goal is to hike as much as possible, at minimum once per week. Following are some of my hike list items for 2018
- – Six Pack times Two (I like 12-packs)
- – Mt. Whitney via Mountaineers route (permit for 6/19 and 6/20 secured) – 14ner
- – Mt. Langley via Horseshoe Meadows (permit for 5/27 and 5/28 secured) – 14-ner
- – Telescope Peak in Death Valley National Park (March'ish)
- – Corksrew Peak in Death Valley Nation Park (March'ish)
- – Snow Skills class in Mammoth (April)
- – Backpack San Gorgonio and traverse to San Bernardino (June / July)
- – White Mountain (July/August) – 14ner
- – Zion trip (October/November)
- – The Wave ( Coyote Buttes in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness) providing I can get a permit (December)
When I check last year the area in between Bernadino and Gorgonio was closed. I hope it opens for you this year.[/quote]
AlAnCap, the San Bernardino Divided trail that you mentioned did open up late last year.

We hiked up from Islip Saddle TH and then exited through Vincent Gap. Excellent hike! You will also be able to summit a few other peaks going this route. Requires staging of vehicles though.

My turn! ;p
Just now reading your response. Thanks! I was able to do both Bishop and Alan Peaks on Feb 17th and 18th. I cancelled my plans for Caliente on Feb 24th due to the approaching snowstorms. Plus I needed to be back down in Oceanside by Sunday, Feb 26th. I was coming from Gilroy and had I not cancelled and driven straight through on Feb 23rd, I would definitely have been one of those vehicles stuck on the Grapevine. Now just trying to figure out when to reschedule.

I didn't mean this year! ;p I'm sure someone has hiked them at some point in time over the years though. Thanks for the info about Thursday. I knew it was coming up, but I couldn't recall when it was.
